A day in Kew

Kew wraps leafy streets around a bend in the Yarra. Here is a day worth building around a game.

Kew Junction

Kew Junction, around High Street and Cotham Road, is the suburb's dining and shopping heart, cafes, boutiques and long-standing locals like the Italian pantry stalwart Toscano's, the Frank & Harri bakery and the rooftop atrium bar at the Skinny Dog Hotel.

Studley Park and the Yarra

A short way south, Studley Park and Yarra Bend Park turn into river escarpments and bushland minutes from the city. Hire a rowboat at the historic Studley Park Boathouse, Australia's oldest, walk the Main Yarra Trail to the Wurundjeri Spur Lookout for skyline views, or spot the flying foxes at Bellbird Park.

Alexandra Gardens

The ornate Victorian-era Alexandra Gardens off Cotham Road, with its rotunda, heritage trees and sweeping lawns, is one of Kew's loveliest picnic spots.

…then the escape room

Reasons to book an escape room near Kew

Whatever the occasion, there is a Rush room close to Kew to build it around. Each of these has its own guide if you want to go deeper.

A day out along the river

Make a day of it. A rowboat and a riverside coffee at the Studley Park Boathouse, a walk to the Wurundjeri Spur Lookout for the skyline, and an hour in the room. An escape room slots into about 90 minutes, so it is easy to build a full day around.

Kids, teens and the school holidays

Kew is a leafy family suburb, and the school holidays are our busiest family window. Under-16s play with a participating adult, larger family groups split across rooms and compete, and The Nine-Nine at Hawthorn is a family favourite.

Date night, with dinner at the Junction

An early-evening room at Hawthorn, then dinner around Kew Junction or a rooftop drink at the Skinny Dog. It beats dinner-and-a-movie and gives you something to actually talk about afterwards.

A rainy-day plan that still feels like an outing

When the river and the gardens are out, the group needs an indoor plan that is not just another cafe. An escape room is the weatherproof hour that still feels like an outing, minutes away and fully indoors.
