Escape Rooms near Melbourne CBD

There's no escape room in the CBD itself — but the nearest, Rush South Yarra, is only about 10 minutes from the city by train. And South Yarra is one of Melbourne's best precincts, so the short trip is worth making an afternoon of: the rooms, plus Chapel Street, the Botanic Gardens and some of the city's best eating. Here's how it fits together — live times and booking below.

Getting there from the city

By train · ~10 min
Frankston or Sandringham line

Take a Frankston or Sandringham train from Flinders Street or Richmond to South Yarra Station, then a 5-minute walk down Toorak Road. Trains run every few minutes at peak. (Since the Metro Tunnel opened, Pakenham and Cranbourne trains no longer stop at South Yarra — use Frankston or Sandringham.)

By tram
Route 58, down Toorak Road

Tram route 58 runs the length of Toorak Road from the city. Get off at the Toorak Road / Chapel Street stop and you're at the door.

By car & ride-share
~4 km · mind Punt Rd at peak

About 10–15 minutes off-peak; Punt Road is a known bottleneck at rush hour. There's metered street parking and paid car parks around Chapel Street and Toorak Road. For ride-share, set drop-off on Toorak Road rather than Chapel Street to skip the traffic.

Make an afternoon of it in South Yarra

South Yarra and the Chapel Street precinct are one of Melbourne's best stretches for eating, drinking and shopping, so the short trip from the city is worth more than just the hour in the room. Everything below is within a short walk of the venue.

Eat & drink

For dinner, Cosi Bar Ristorante (Italian, on Toorak Road since 1996) and Da Noi (a tiny, much-loved Sardinian kitchen where the chef sets the menu) are walkable favourites, and Chez Olivier does a proper French bistro. Afterwards, Katuk is a hidden upstairs cocktail bar on Chapel Street, or the Temperance Hotel for something more relaxed with a beer garden.

Coffee & brunch

Come early and start with brunch: Two Birds One Stone on Claremont Street is a perennial favourite, The Peacock is a leafy spot just off the river, and Tend on Toorak Road pours some of the best coffee in the area, a minute from the venue.

See & do

Chapel Street is Melbourne's fashion and retail strip, good for a wander before or after. Ten minutes away are the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Tan walking track, and the Shrine of Remembrance with its city views. For something quieter, Como House & Garden is a National Trust mansion in South Yarra, and Herring Island is a little sculpture park on the Yarra, reached by punt on weekends.
