The story

Some rites are never meant to be left unfinished. When a child on the city's edge began speaking in a voice that was not her own, the diocese sent Father Aldous Vane to perform an exorcism he had carried out a dozen times before. This time he did not walk out. The presence he came to cast out is still in the room, stronger for what it took from him, and patient. It has been waiting for someone to finish what he started. You have sixty minutes to complete the rite and force it back into the dark. Fail, and it finds a new way out, through you.

Planning a birthday or corporate event?

The Exorcism is one of our more intense rooms. For younger players or a mixed-age birthday, our brighter St Kilda room The Black Pearl is a gentler option. Each room holds up to 6, so larger groups split across rooms at St Kilda and play at the same time. For corporate team-building and group functions, see our team-building page or email enquiries@rushescapegame.com.au. Frequently asked questions

Is this the same room as The Conjoining?
Yes. This is our St Kilda demonic-horror room told through its Exorcist-inspired side; The Conjoining tells the same room's haunting side. Book either page and you play the one room, so there is no need to book both.
Is The Exorcism actually scary?
Yes. It is a possession horror built around a failed exorcism and the presence left behind. The fear comes from the set, the lighting, the sound and the story, not from anything chasing you.
Are there live actors, or does anything chase us?
No. There are no live actors, and nothing chases or follows you. Every scare comes from the room itself, never from a person in there with you.
Will anything touch or grab us?
No. It is a hands-off experience. Nothing in the room makes contact with you, and you never need to touch anything you would rather not.
Can we leave if it gets too much?
Anytime. You are never locked in, the door stays unlocked, and you can step out whenever you like. Your games master watches the whole game and can pause or step in within seconds.
I get claustrophobic. Will I feel trapped?
No. You are never locked in and the exit is always available. If you would rather skip the horror, The Black Pearl at St Kilda is a brighter, all-ages room.
Is it suitable for first-timers?
Yes. At a moderate difficulty it is very approachable, and your games master gives hints whenever you need them.
What is the minimum age?
There is no strict age limit, but it is a dark possession-horror room, so it suits teens and adults best. Under-16s are welcome with a participating adult in the room.
